Today was very, very stressful. I knew balancing living outside with midterm week would be a challenge, but today it really hit me. After the math midterm I had today, I managed to find peace in going for a walk to clear my head, and burying myself in the 5 Days campaign. Marks are important, but the campaign is also very important, and since you cannot change the past, might as well impact the present.

Despite the tough academic day today, there was a very positive, enlightening woman who stopped by to chat today. She described her experiences in the past about overcoming confidence and gender barriers to MC at a Rotary event at a time when men dominated the club. She was very supportive of our cause, and sang us an old ethnic song to honor what we are doing. I am very grateful for that, as it vastly improved my mood after the shit show of a midterm.

One more night to go! I am excited to be able to take a shower and sleep in a bed tomorrow night. The nights, and especially mornings are chilly, but us participants have recently learned the skill of sharing body heat through squeezing together our sleeping bags (took long enough).

Day 4 was a negative day turned positive, and I am looking forward for what tomorrow will hold.

Cheers,

Jake Johnston
